Building HI Capability

What human intelligence must become when prediction is abundant?

In this white paper, Matthew Byrne argues that as AI makes prediction cheaper and more widely available, the real challenge is not simply adopting new tools, but developing the human intelligence needed to respond well when context shifts and judgement still matters.

He defines Human Intelligence (HI) as the trainable human capacity to move quickly, willingly, coherently and accountably into new spaces of work when old scripts no longer fit.

More than a paper about technology, this is a call to build people, systems and learning environments that help humans work better with AI while also strengthening the distinctly human capacities AI cannot legitimately replace: sensemaking, ethical judgement, relationship, responsibility and adaptation.

Rather than claiming to offer a finished doctrine, Byrne presents this paper as a practical foundation for organisations, educators and leaders who want AI to enhance human capability, not diminish it.
